Nothing "normal" about planting, replanting, replanting the replant corn belt wide in June. Hell if it's so great why don't you wait until July? About as good of a plan of getting a frost on beans and increasing yield. When you are past the crop insurance deadlines it obviously is not normal.
It's common enough here to plant at least half the bean crop in June. Insurance deadline for us is June 10th, and it's hardly uncommon for the last beans to be pushing that. You lose the shot at 80 bpa beans here at that point, but I've gotten 65 bpa off beans planted June 15th. In my experience, soil conditions make more difference than the calendar many years. I let the planter set idle for three days last week waiting for my last field to dry out. As it turned out, we didn't get the forecasted rain so I probably should have waited another couple days. |
