How long does the pump run for each cycle? It ought to run a minute or two, then have a minute or two of reserve pressure from the tank when water is running at a normal rate. (house water faucets, etc.)

If the cycles are very short, they like was mentioned you may not have enough air in your tank, or the bladder is busted in a bladder tank.

The clunk, clunk, clunk is somewhat normal in systems around I've been around. The water is moving one direction when the pump is running, pump shuts off, and the water tries to reverse for a second until the check valve at the top of the pump closes. Then it hammers a little in the piping.
