south east Indiana | I would try to pen the intact boys separately and feed them. My ram lambs finish first. Like everyone said it will set them back and they will be chasing and fighting in with the ewes. Sheering will help with the space available, moisture, and cleanliness and most likely they will eat more also - it is amazing how much room 'wool' takes up.
If you know anyone who spins looks like you have some Tunis, maybe Corridales which should have nice wool. You might check with them before you sheer
Just a caution on feeding grain, work them up lots slower than you would calves to avoid acidosis. Lambs are tricky. The other thing I would do is vaccinate for C/D/T and check fecals. Coccidia can be a big problem | |
