Oxford County, ON | The home farm is at the NE corner of Township and County maintained roads, both paved and very well maintained in the winter. The township road has much wider shoulders than the county road. Only 3 or 4 township roads are paved in the north end where we are while most are paved in the south because its sandy down there, therefore easier to pave; I can't think of a county road that isn't paved. We're less than 10 minutes from Highway 401, the busiest highway in North America, and can be in Detroit or Buffalo in 2.5hrs, or Port Huron, Mi in under 2.
We're directly south of where the 403 splits off the 401, and our fire station (I'm an officer there) which is conveniently only 1km from our farm, covers the first 8km of the 403. Inconveniently, we have to drive either 10min west to the 401 to go eastbound or 15 minutes east to the only 403 entrance in the county to go westbound. The Ministry of Transportation won't give us an emergency entrance to the 403 at the overpass 3km from the hall which would improve our response time 50-90%.
