Many in my family teach. The system changes, the kids change, change is difficult, but there are a lot of good kids out there who are doing well. As it says in a thread above, we are Incredibly lucky to live in the here and now compared to all the world's history and geography.

It takes a village of constant reinforcement of the proper morals and attitudes for those kids. Not just at school, but at home and in the community.

As far as kids, right and wrong, and teaching them - I have a challenge for you all. Many families are broken and dad (sometimes mom) is a physical or emotional no-show. For you readers out there, who are majority male and older - what are doing to teach not only your kids, but reaching out and modeling to others. To show young boys what it is to be a responsible, loving man. To show young women how to respect themselves, and model how a women should be treated through your actions and words.

Are you volunteering to teach these kids at community events? Through coaching, or just being present, positive, and engaged? Does your community have adequate finances and volunteering spirit to ensure there are events?

The school is important. But there is typically not a great percentage of male teachers to model that side of personality to 50% of the student population. What are we doing outside of the school to address any perceived shortcomings?
