Grain trucking, custom agronomy services, excavating/tiling, shop work,

A few around here contract the labor in hog buildings they don't own. They don't have to invest the capital in the building and keep their guys busy with chores on other guys hog sites.

I personally think it's hard to justify full time help on a grain only farm - you about need something else for them like you are talking or you have to be big enough they can keep busy doing maintenance and other stuff for you in the off season.
