Our house is like this and we didn't have a lot of money to spend on landscaping at the time. I planted some Boston Ivy to cover up the concrete look and have some rock gardens on the end with flowers. We planted a lilac hedge on the top to keep kids and visitors from falling over the edge. It's worked so far!
