Subject: RE: G ragweed in oats

southern MN
I intend to swath and harvest the oats for grain, bale the straw for straw.

The legumes are a cheap no name blend, a soil builder, cover crop.

I should have specified that better, small grains here are outside the norm, but then so am I. ;)

Save the oats for grain, cleaner straw are goals. I am disappointed the cover crop goes away in these patches, but is what I'm willing to sacrifice out of the bunch.

I am well aware of what giant ragweed does in small grains here, dad used to have me plant the peat bog, which was infested with giant rags. Could not fit them through the swather. Aweful. I kinda got control of my giant rags now after a decade or two....

Now I bought this 20 acres next door from the neighbor, and I think I bought the weed load that blew into it from me years ago. ;)

What goes around comes around!

Paul
