+1 I disabled the switch on Dad's 1026R, which should be same thing. Installed a jumper in the connection on the back of the switch. IIRC, I found a YouTube video that told me all I needed to know. It wasn't the exact same tractor/ mower, but it was plenty close enough since the switch worked the same way.
