E.Central MN | Agreed. The best teachers I had were in an old school that was at least 50 years old when I attended it 45 years ago and its still being used today. It looked like a big square prison. But they had some really great educators (also had a few not so great ones). If we want to keep good teachers we have to give them a safe environment to teach in, in other words we have to have a code of conduct for the students. Those students who cause safety problems need to be sent to an alternative school, an actual prison. We are spending so much money to educate students that we can't allow even a small percentage to ruin that education opportunity for the rest of them. With the internet resources available to today's young people I see no reason we should continue to waste public resources $$$ on violent and disruptive students after the age of 16. Tell them they had their chance and ban them from the school entirely. | |
