Subject: RE: Seeding Lawn

Glenwood, Mn

I've seeded roughly 20 acres of grass in the last 5 years for personal use (grass between grape vines)

We've settled on Aggasiz seed for supplying most our needs now.  We use straight KY blue in the aisles but it is a 4 way blend.  In the headlands we seed KY blue+perennial rye.  Seems to hold up to the traffic better although gets a bit shaggier faster.  I am not a fan of fescues unless you have lighter ground.  Whatever you do stay away from Tall fescues unless it's really tough ground.

We interseed oats with ours for a nurse crop.

I highly recommend renting or procuring a good drill rather than broadcast.  We cut our seeding rate in roughly half and get an excellent stand.

Edit, this grass was fall seeded in Late August and the picture was taken in May the following spring.
