Bought the great, great grandmother of this calf almost 30 years ago. She was an old toothless Hereford cow and the first cow I owned and calved. She had a heifer that I kept and she never bread back, sold her for a loss. (So I thought)
That cow (great grandma) lived for over 20 yrs and gave me many calves but only one heifer, which I kept.
Had that cow (grandma) for 16 yrs and agin she only ever had one heifer which I kept.
That cow (mom) is 14 this spring and has only had bull calves till Sunday night when I found this gem. Nearly cried when I saw it, knew it was a heifer, think I'll keep it.
Figure it at 42 bull calves and 3 heifers
You beef cow guys always have cute as a button calves! I could look out the window and see huts full of calves (holsteins) but I'd have a hard time not getting attached! |
