Beresford, SD
LKM, got a few questions for you on your 66% yield. How long off feed before last loading, how long of a haul, how long of a stand at the plant, how much of a pencil shrink off the unloaded weight at the plant? My cattle never yield over 63.5, but I base yield on my figures not the plants. I never take them off feed and weigh them up at my coop on the truck with a 3%, then when I get my car carcuss weights I get my dressing % based of my loaded live weight on the truck. I feel it keeps you honest on wether you got a good bid in the meat and what a fair price is live. Heck, pencil shrink them 3% at the plant and then you can say they yielded 67.5%. Not pickin on you but high yields are a pencil and calculator game.
