I am very new to keeping replacements, but I have been told if she doesn't get bred, you find out early and still have some salvage value to the feedlot. If you don't to a pelvic exam before selecting, you won't find out if she is fit to have a calf until she is having the calf. I know most will calve fine, but my feeling is the vet exam is much easier then calving problems.
