I am a crop insurance agent in Nebraska. Email me if you want to know more. For most corn/soybean farmers it won't work well. It insures lower of last five years revenue (with some adjustments for growth, etc) and projected revenue. Could work very well for organic farmers or someone who has forward contracted a good chunk of 2016 crop at high prices. If you have two commodities (hogs, cattle, other items are considered a commodity) can only buy up to 75%. Must have 3+ commodities to buy 80-85%.

If you are a corn/soybean farmer that has not forwarded contract quite a bit at higher prices it probably isn't for you.
