South Central NE | I am nearly 66. I had the influenza last February. 4 weeks, 2 courses of meds, and 3 trips to the doctor later I got over it. It was the sickest I have ever been in my whole life. My wife has gotten the shot for many years and never gotten it. This year I am going to forgo my stubborn stupidity and get it. I will also get the pneumonia shot. I have seen enough people get both diseases to know I am no longer willing to take the risk. The wife and I do have 3 parents over 90 and 5 grandkids so that is a consideration. We also both took the shingles shot 2 years ago. I have known several who have suffered from this debilitating, painful disease. It is just too easy to take the shots and skip the disease.
