Subject: My Grain Grabber Rxperience-JD220 Head

Macon, IL
I followed the advice of others here and on a 20ft head I put on 4-instead of 6.

The first couple day in beans without them I slugged the feederhouse 3 time-mostly trying to cut with 30 inch rows-11% moisture beans-about 60bu/acre. When I cut at a 45 it worked a lot better and I didn't have many problem-but still had to slow down and be careful doing end rows and other times cutting straight.

After installing the grabbers we can now cut straight down the rows with no problems. Head still seems to work better overall at a 45 degree angle to crop but with them on we can go 1/2 to 1 mph faster and not worry about plugging it-since we installed them I haven't slugged it once. Also have had no wrapping problems.

The improvment was so good that I don't really see the need to put the two farthest inside ones on-especially based on wrapping problems from others here. Also used 1/4 inch bolt rather than the 17/64 they sent. Took about an hour to install.

So if you are having feeding problems-especially in 30" rows I highly recommend them.
