IMO, I think it should be code to run all under slab lines in conduit. Then if there is a leak, it will come out one end or the other of the conduit.


+1 We've abandoned all the under-concrete water lines in our dairy barn by now. It's also quite amusing visiting other older dairy facilities and seeing the little copper stubs sticking out of the floor here and there. If I were building new, house or barn, I'd sleeve everything that's under the concrete with black poly pipe, and thread it with a smaller poly pipe or a pex line.

JCS, Copper pipes are the last thing I would use around here. I've seen our water rust copper through after 20 years. Different water is different, though. Consider the possibility of system-wide corrosion in your plan of attack.
