NW Washington | I am sure you could swap engines cheaper than installing a Electronic Injection system on an old engine. The electronic systems have either electronically controlled unit injectors or common rail systems that are more than just bolt on stuff. Kinda odd, here you are praising the newer high tech engines and just down the page guys are complaining about them. Air quality and emisson standards world wide have forced engine manufacturers to abandon the old mechanical injection systems in favor of the much tighter control of the electronic systems on larger engines. This has made the engines more efficient and let the designers play with the engine response and torque curves. The latest emission standards are causing some problems which have not been solved, at least very well.
Here is a link to Scania which info on their new diesel industrial engines.

Duetz now sells water cooled engines and the new rules may have had something to do with thot too. | |
