Subject: Re: Pole barn & concrete floors

Looks like a good idea Ed. I have a polebarn that was put up in 1978 and the wooden posts (laminated with 2x6s on each side of a 2x8) are starting to rot below ground. On some the 2x6s are almost gone:~(. I have purchased "permacolumns" to replace the bottoms of the posts & am waiting on the guy to show up to do it. Looks to be a major project. This part of the building has a gravel floor but on the shop end, built in 2000, that is concreted, I plan to do something similiar to what you have done. Only thing is I will have to drill anchors into the concrete to hold the channel. Would be better if the channel was buried in the concrete like yours.
