Subject: Natural air grain drying

The old propane burners on our Shivvers in bin grain dryer refuse to work this year so I'm forced to dry with no heat. I put 3000-4000 bushels of corn in at 19% moisture 5 days ago and I'm not making much progress. I need to get this dry so I can fill my contract and make room for later corn. From the charts it looks like the equilibrium moisture for corn at 70 F and 70% humidity (daytime conditions) is 14.3%. For 50 F and 90% humidity (nightime conditions) it is 20.2%. None of the online references say to turn the fans off at night but it would seem like I'm rewetting the grain. I've got plenty of air at 4-5 cfm/bu so is there any reason I shouldn't turn the fans off at night? It's too late to fix the problem this year but I'll have a new fan and burner for next year.
