| The ham bone is good only as far as there is some meat on the bone... ;)
Split pea soup tastes great with a smoked sausage or smoked bacon in it too. If you want to serve it with sour cream, better skip the meat and use only veggies and herbs, like a carrot, onion, celery stick, clove, laurel and a stick of fresh rosemary. I actually prefer split pea mash rather than soup. Just make some holes on top once it is done and break an egg per person over each hole, cover until the egg white is cooked, and serve. | |
