The thing is that if you have a decent cow herd, you can skip a couple years of bringing in heifers. But after that, you have to do something. I am to the point that I need to put some heifers into the herd. Probably going to be $28-3200/head, ouch! Probably buy a load this year and save all that will breed 1st cycle next year.
