If your thinking I want to be long corn selling a put allows one to be long at a lower level in ray's example if exercised on the option one is than long at $3.07 instead of the $3.24 you would be long at today.
the risk is you don't get long and only collect .07 cents.
there are many ways to skin a cat all of them have some sort of risk involved.
