NE NC | I am 34, and have been very overweight all of my adult life. I have dropped a lot of weight and gotten into shape. In February I was out for a run and about the beginning of mile 2 I had some serious back spasms that would not let up for several weeks. I went to my Dr and he ordered 6 wks of physical therapy (required by insurance co. before an MRI would be approved). Physical therapy did nothing, and by the time I finished PT I could barely walk. MRI shows herniated disc at L5/S1 and bone spurring on L4 & L5. I have been living off of cortisone injections and Ibuprofen until we finish harvest and then have surgery. Cortisone shots work great for about 4 weeks for me.
Don't put off getting an MRI. A chiropractor helps some people but he can't see if you have a serious disc issue, and it can cause permanent damage like drop-foot. Some issues cannot be fixed with snap and pop adjustments. | |
