Subject: RE: Differences between 4640+4650

We have a 4640 and a 4650..both quad..both have been excellent tractors..the 50 is a little better here or there though..the 50 has 9,200 hours and the 40 has 7,600 hours..we bought both new..the 50 in '84 and the 40 in '81..we have used both of these hard..and the only thing we have had to replace is the radiator on the 40..the 50 starts better and probably has 15 more horse..we pull a 7-18 plow with both and the 50 pulls it a good two miles per hour faster..in my opinion, you just can't beat the 50's..or the 40's..or any of the older Deere's..built to last forever..the only Deere we ever had some trouble with was one of the 4430's we bought new..it must of been built on a Monday..lol..either choice you make will be fine..both are excellent..i'd choose the 50 if it were within my budget. Good luck.
