You should get pretty good money for drilling pasture. If it's like our pastures, they will be rocky stuff that can't be farmed and you will find holes and ditches. I would think you would be better charging by the hour, as I highly doubt you will have many open, easy planting acres to do. Plus, if you have ever swathed or baled CRP, you know how rough pastures can be.

At 5mph and 100% field efficiency, you will do 6 acres per hour. $20/acre in perfect conditions is $120/hour and I would want to start there, but don't know the customer. Make sure the tractor has at least a rollbar if it doesn't have a cab. It used to scare me to death to watch Dad spray pastures with a 3pt sprayer and Ford 5000. As a kid, I was sure he was going to tip it a few times, so please be careful.
