Texas/New Mexico Stateline | Won't make any major changes. 3" of moisture on top of 8' dry ground will be a decent start, but I'm not going to go crazy planting the whole farm. We'll plant a little dryland milo as soon as it is fit. Then if we keep getting rain, may possibly add a few acres if we can get it in before July 1st. Still will summer fallow most of it and go back with wheat next fall.
Got burned in 2012 I think it was. Got a big 2-3 inch rain in May, jumped in and planted milo behind failed wheat, and of course it turned back dry and burned up. Dryland crops in our part of the world are made when they are started on a full soil profile, and we don't have that yet.
Showers in the area again this afternoon! Wow. |
