The wide gauge wheels act as a fail safe with pneumatic downforce systems. They allow you to spread the weight of the row unit out to about 4". With a system like DeltaForce that can make a change in a 1/5 of a second, we wouldn't need the wider wheel, because root zone compaction has been drastically reduced.
