northern MN | every area is different. In years like the pictures I saw on the above post we planted because the tillage we did only exposed more soil for drifting. In our case we did have some moisture that allowed the seed to germinate, perhaps you don't. The field in question in my case blew all winter, I went so far as to take a 2 whl tractor out on Jan 30th and chiseled the worst areas I used a 2whlr so I didn't pull the chisel apart on frozen ground. Any lumps brought up only blew away later thus increasing the top soil loss, when spring came our tillage wouldn't stop it so I seeded it and quit looking. It turned out to be the right decision but like I said every area is different. |
