N.W. Illinois
Why are you wanting to incorporate a pre emerge? We did that years ago because of yellow nutsedge which was a deep germinating weed. Also we incorporated grass herbicides because we were afraid we would not get a timely rain to activate the herbicide. We had very limited options back then for respray unlike now.
I think you are just asking for trouble with crop injury once again by incorporating. Years ago we were always going around and around with herbicide companies vs seed corn companies on who's fault it was for poor stands and what appeared to be crop injury when we incorporated.
Wooly cup germinates in the top 1- 2 inches of the soil. Working in the herbicide just dilutes it's effective weed band.
A pre applied after planting containing either acetochlor (Harness, etc) or metolachlor with a safener (Dual II, ect) at a reduced rate to get you through v4-v6. If for some reason(weather, etc.) there is already grass coming up add some Roundup to burn it off.
Then come back in at v4-v6 with a full rate of Halex GT spiked with 1 lb of atrazine. Do not apply HalexGT pre emerge because the Dual in Halex does not contain the safener.
