Subject: RE: Question about intensive grazing

North Mo.
First off I am no expert, however I have done MIG for years and the more I do it I find the less I know. I do know rest is more important than anything else except water. If your fescue is that tall already you are past the veg. state and into toxic fescue problems. I got into that problem last year and it was a horror story beyond belief. I don't kow your acs. or no. of cows but it looks to me you need to move fast or clip or mow hay on a lot of your fescue. As a point of ref. we would try to have a stock density of 80000 plus on five ac. a day. We have no grass that tall course we are cold for this time of year and rain every other day, also we stay on grass all year. Well got to go rotate cows, one group is 80 pairs another is 120 pairs and possibly move a group of 40 with spring Ap. calves.Ben
