Actually I believe that is called broadcasting...not banding!!!! Andrew Could be - but, the spreader is set to very, very slow speed/rpms, that essentially allow the salt/sand mix to fall off the spreader disk in more of a row (about 2ft wide), concentrating it, rather then spreading it out. There isn't enough traffic to work the wider spread pattern and it works best to have a band, down the middle of the asphalt road for the traffic in both lanes to work the material out. This method uses less material also . . . .. . . works for this area. Kind of like the difference between broadcasting fertilizer and applying all fertility in a strip or row, broadcasting requires more fertilizer the rows/bands . . . |
