We as farmers have produced ourselves to breakeven area this year and will likely produce ourselves out of a profit in many cases next year..
If on Sept 1 2012 you had sold half of 13 and 14 production and then also protected 120% of that production with puts at record high prices which way would you want grains to go?? Not that I did any of that, but there are both sides to every trade, cattle and hog feeders liking this action too I bet... you are the same age as means I can tell you neither you or I can grasp what bad times are. You aren't going to be able to just market your way out. As far as hogs go, the farrow to finish guys here are long gone, it's all contract hogs here now with most having a cargill name attached. But that's here. |
