Athe the end of that copper line going into the tank should be a check valve that should close when the compressor is done pumping. That hole where your arrow is lets air pressure off of the head when it is done pumping so there is no pressure on it when it starts again. Ive had that check valve fail on mine a couple of times and I just go to an air compressor dealer and he usually has what I need.
