Probably a little more pricey and impractical for your area, but the newer VW Touareg TDI's with the V6 diesel are nice. The older ones with the V10 diesel were maintenance nightmares. The Audi Q7 diesel is a premium version of the Touareg. Not sure if you want new or not but just for comparison. Touareg TDI's start in the 40s. Audi Q7 TDIs are much higher.

Now personally I like those two because I like the german stuff an diesels, but a more practical choice would be what others are reccommending. I was considering trading our suburban for a Sprinter but that was with the intent of using it to go get parts since my family does not use it for hauling the family around anymore due to everyone being old enough to drive. I dont know if I would want to haul the family in a sprinter. I guess I wouldn't have an issue with it, but I can see where many significant others would.

I like the GM stuff, but Ford is pretty impressive with their interiors. A lot of people around here are going to the Acadia/Traverse/Enclave/Outlook vehicle platform. Enough room for the family, less cargo space but a lot better fuel mileage.
