West Ky | We have wheat starting to head out right now and I think we will be fine. Last year our bottom places in the fields was burnt by frost and you could easily tell by the blackish heads. The black is caused by the mold that starts to grow.
In '07 it got down to 17 here and stayed pretty darn cold for several days with half the crop headed out. We averaged 65% below our average. We shoot for 120 bu and usually average 90. Some fields can hit a little over a hundred. | |
