In French bureaucratic language, a farm is an agricultural exploitation and a farmer is an "exploitant agricole" or an "agriculteur", not even kidding... "Farmer" ("fermier") has mud clogging to the word and is never used, "ferme" or "fermette" is mostly used by real estate people to describe a nice little house with a garden or something.
