West Kentucky | What are your soil test normally like? For instance, our soil test almost always come back good on K in this area, but tend to struggle with P. A typical blend on corn for us will either be a 31-80-80 or a 31-80-60. I think under your circumstances, I would likely be looking at no more than 180-100-100 (with majority of N sidedressed) unless you are certain you will have it in the future. For a one year lease, here, you would be better off saving your money then spending on pell lime for growing corn (soybeans would be a totally different deal). Soil test are no more reliable for testing sulfur as they are testing nitrogen with the only accurate way being tissue sampling. At this point, we have not been able to document a yield response from sulfur with any type of consistency. So basically, I would apply the KISS method of fertilizer and keep it simple, at least for this year. | |
