Downtown Shell Knob MO Come Visit!
you don't have closer margins just higher yields so you have to adjust the inputs to get the margins closer.
My sprayer cost 6 thousand, it did 6600 acres last year. Friend has a 80k sprayer that does 2 or 3 passes on 800 acre farm.
So the numbers he gives his accountant and banker tend to be higher than the ones I give mine. Its all in justification.
If I lived where you live I would never spray for 5 dollars an acre with some old junky sprayer while the farmer drove a newer tractor and newer truck, If he has a new tractor I would want a new sprayer and I would charge 8 dollars to justify it.

Around here getting the 5 dollars in the hand to pay the banker tends to be better and more secure than the money hanging out in the bush from a good harvest.

Id rent my first gen magnum and 8000 deere for 45 an hour every day of the week and they tend to not break down any so why do I need a newer one? So how do I justify a new tractor??? O wait I tell my banker and accountant tractors are worth 45 an hour.
