On our farm, canola costs more because it needs about 20 lbs of N more / ac and the seed cost is $50-60/ac whereas wheat seed costs are around $20/ac.

I think western canadian average is around 32 or 33 bu/ac. There are areas that often get 40 bu/ac plus but there are areas where a "good" crop of canola is barely 30.
