I just had the same conversation with my crop ins agent. Also looking out the window to crop conditions with some moisture
on top following a 12inch snow, but very little subsoil moisture. Irrigation guys are hearing they may not get their water
supply from area lakes. So why is preventive planting going to be difficult to prove? I too an looking at planting sunflowers
instead of corn and draw the PP payment.
It really makes no sense. Local irrigated farmers are being told not to plant if they know they won't have enough water to make a crop. They will get the PP, dryland guys must plant. |
