Subject: fungicide and insecticide

Monroe City, MO
Local supplier (who reads these post) is heavily invested in a high yield program. Has a certain percentage of patrons who follow their recomendations. Multiple steps involved; plant early, sufficient nutrients, pre emerge herb on beans, other practices that everyone would agree with. Then, an application of fungicide and insecticide.
This winter most of the major farm publications have had articles on this last practice. Most universities seem to be recommending saving the fungicide and insecticide for a curative purpose. The flip side is the DuPonts and Sygenta's of the world are pushing fungicide and insecticide as a preventative.
One article this winter listed 4 fungicides and gave the odds of a postive return from an application. In 25-60% of the trials the yield increase wasn't enough to cover the cost.
