Shelby, MT | I think that is a steal if it includes all the buildings, irrigation, etc. The hutterites are paying 6-700 for total crap ground in our are with no improvements. I can't for the life of me figure out why they don't buy a place like this and split it up into several colonies.
As for the buyer I don't think the average person understands how hard it is to store larger amounts of money. Stock are OK, banks only are insured up to 250k, treasuries are well.... when you see people in Europe buying bonds at negative rates this is a deal if he never makes money off this. I just hope he isn't a front for the gov to eventually own it.
As for the rich guy crap. I used to think the FWP and dnrc buying land was good but it is all BS and once the gov owns it it will never be sold where with the rich guy there is hope his kids will lose it and it will change hands in the future. With the gov there is never hope. The fwp bought the Lincoln ranch with all the BS of access and now only a handful of people get to go there a year to hunt and it is one complete f'ed up mess and the ranch next too it owned by a lawyer adds ten times more to the wildlife than the corrupt fish and game. While the fwp starves the game wrcens to death while sitting on the ungoverned board acting like gods.
