That is a good looking cover of vetch! heavy! I try not to be mention specific products, however in this case I will say the best row cleaner product I have seen for that much vetch (acts like a "brillo" pot cleanning pad) is our Dawn1572 combo. With a ripple type blade leading, the 1572 cuts the vetch first then the Trashwheels clear a wide enough path for the gage wheels to run on soil and give you more uniform seed depth. Plugging is often an issue in vetch like that but the unique way the 1572's row cleaners straddle the rear edge of the coulter is self cleaning and especially useful planting into vetch as you show. It is usually damp under that vetch at planting time and Curvetine closing wheels are also very helpful getting a good stand. I would also use Totally Tubular in furrow tubes for 6 gal/acre of 10-34-0 especially planting into a heavy cover crop like that. Gives the crop a nearby shot of P to get early root growth and a bit of N to get up and growing under all that cover so it can reach your primary fertilizer. Jim at Dawn edit: what planter/setup did you use to get the stand pictured? A US-style planter with a leading coulter I suspect?
