Several level headed responses in this thread and the one I am responding to is one of them, at least for our latitude and soil type. I have been doing some percentage of COC for 30+ years and occasionally we'll have a disappointment in spite of doing everything we can to get it right. As another poster said "weather is king" and we can attempt to lessen it's impact but we can't control or predict. In this neck of the woods, if you haven't had some level of yield drag with COC, you haven't been growing it long enough.
