Most people in my area don't mess with a VT before strip tilling. Like has already been mentioned if you get a wind after a VT operation you will have ricks of husks to work with. Just go ahead and run your strip till rig, should work OK. A 45 degree angle to old rows is preferable if you have problems plugging.
