Subject: RE: Furnace? Oil or propane

central - east central Minnesota -
cousinit - 9/16/2012 21:17Going to put in a new furnace. Going to splurge and get central air. When we bought this place, we said we'd get central air when the furnace went out as it looked kinda old. Well, that was 1987 and the furnace is still working but I want central air now. I'm 58 and think I deserve it. Plus old furnace can't possibly go that much longer and is probably a big energy user. It's an oil burner. So should we go with oil again, or propane? No natural gas lines out here in the boonies.
I'm not sure geo would pay, more info would be needed to advise . . . Propane for sure. Much less the diesel/fuel oil price wise.Propane furnace can be had for around $3k . . . . Hard to beat that investment at you age. Cleaner and no smells either. Check with your electric utility co to seee if there is dollars to consider an heat pump air conditioner. You could save some heating dollars, if the heat pump is reasonable priced . . .
