West MI
I worked in the Middle East for a couple years, common to see temps +120 in the summer there and we had a few Deutz engines around running power units and light towers......we didn't pay near the attention to those as we did the Detroits/CATS/Cummins/Perkins motors that were also around there when it got "warm" out. All these engines were built to run in +50 deg. C ambient temp. environment but even on some days the liquid cooled units would run right to the limit. FWIW, there were some Detroits we couldn't keep cool (they worked at 80-90% load, 800 HP) until we switched over to Royal Purple Oil, dropped around 20 degrees in almost every unit....I am sure Amsoil would give similiar results.

The Deutz will take the heat but like anything else working in a severe environment, preventative maintenance will go a long way to making them last.

BTW,,,,,the hotest I ever saw it get over "there" was 132 deg F.....didn't have to wait for the engines to warm up before puttin' the onion to her.....
