NW Washington
There are quite a few JD 1850-1890 air drills with mounted seed boxes being used in the Palouse and I don't know of a real major problem on steep slopes with them. The opener disc usually do a good job of keeping the drill running fairly straight, but it will run at enough of an angle that the slot closing wheels don't run where they should. You have to be careful when you raise the disc out of the ground on these and other disc drill because it will go downhill in a hurry out of the ground. Some folks have them equipped to shut off the seed without raising the disc just for this reason. I would guess that seeding into loose tilled soil would be more of a problem on steep slopes. The front crazy wheel/caster wheel hydraulic locks Art mentioned are sometimes used by hoe drill users because they tend to slide worst than disc drills.

Here is a link to Horsch-Anderson and a some info on their in between cart with steerable wheels. http://www.horschanderson.com/hillside_solutions.html
